ACMA
Over a 18-month period to June 2023, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (‘ACMA’) reports that businesses have paid $11 million in penalties for breaching spam and telemarketing laws, including the simple failure to provide an opt-out option. The entities fined included a major Australian bank who was reportedly fined over $3.55 million.
